Characterization of Lead-doped Strontium Bismuth Tantalate Ferroelectric Ceramics

2000
The preparation and ferroelectric properties of layered ferroelectric lead-doped strontium bismuth tantalate (SrBi2Ta2O9) were investigated. The formation of solid solutions of lead-doped SrBi2Ta2O9 was corroborated, in this study. Adding excess bismuth oxide in prepared specimens profoundly enhanced their sinterability. The degree of c-axis preferred orientation of the sintered ceramics decreased with an increase in the lead content of lead-doped SrBi2Ta2O9. The lead-doped specimens exhibited ferroelectric properties with well saturated P-E loops. Both the remanent polarization and dielectric constant increased with the doping amount of lead cations.
