Constant Rate Infusions in Exotic Animals

2020
Abstract Over the past decade, exotic animal anesthesia and analgesia has drastically improved corresponding to the development of new technologies and the advancement in research. The use of drug administration via constant rate infusion (CRIs) has become a common method of enhancing operative and postoperative outcomes, allowing for better administration of multimodal anesthesia and analgesia, and improving the treatment of hypotension in exotic patients . CRIs allow practitioners precise control over the intravenous administration of medications by maintaining stable drug plasma concentrations and preventing transient subtherapeutic drug levels.
