Team-Based Learning
2021
Sweet defines Team-Based Learning (TBL) as “a special form of collaborative learning using a specific sequence of individual work, group work and immediate feedback to create a motivational framework in which students increasingly hold each other accountable for coming to class prepared and contributing to discussion” [1]. Beyond just the acquisition of knowledge, TBL promotes the application of knowledge. More specifically, TBL is designed to spur what the faculty want learners to do, more so than what they want learners to know. This strategy can be applied to any discipline and has been adopted in many health professions curricula.
