Itinerário terapêutico de pacientes encaminhados a um centro especializado em saúde do homem: reflexão de gênero em bioética

This study refers to the bioethical reflection regarding the access problem and inequality of genders specifically in the masculine population. Taking into consideration that there is the National Policy of Whole Assistence to Men’s Health since 2008, it is recente, which makes necessary the discussion and reflections about the implementation of this Policy. Among the neoplasias, prostate câncer is the most predominant in the male population, deserving to highlight its discussion. For this reason it was tracked the Therapeutical Itinerary of patients forwarded to the Center Assistance of Men’s Health in Policlinica Piquet Carneiro, after the biopsy of prostate with positive result. The subjects of the research were men to approach the reality of health in this population in the country, both in terms of comprehension in the procedure health–disease, inequalities of genders and ways of organization of the Health System. Presenting as objective: Evaluate the profile of the clients that search for the attention of the service of Assistance to Men’s Health; Debate the advantages and difficulties of access; Demonstrate the consequences of gender inequality; Contribute to the improvement of the management and care to this population. In the 1st stage, 142 medical records were analyzed, tracing the profile of patients in 2014 and after interviews were made with seven patients and stroke the therapeutic itinerary. Of the total of 142 records, 5 had to be excluded for lack of data for evaluation, these 137, 61 patients the result was positive for cancer corresponding to a total of 44.5% and 76 patients had negative result, corresponding to 44,5% of the sample. The survey results showed that patients stay on average one year and six months to gain access to the diagnosis, and 1 month after receiving the diagnosis , to have access to treatment. Based on the analysis we were created three (3) major categories : Gender Disparities in Access to Health Lack of access to cancer diagnosis prostate and Treatment Access Facility. Finally, it was highlighted that the difficulties of access encountered by the male population should not be attributed unilaterally their socio cultural issues as the public policies also understood not the demands and needs of this population
