Spontaneously resolved 2D chiral kagomé Cu(II) coordination polymer

2012
Abstract A new metal–organic coordination polymer (H 3 O)[Cu 3 (tbip) 3.5 (H 2 O) 2 ]·H 2 O ( 1 ) (H 2 tbip = 5-tert-butyl isophthalic acid) has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, IR, TG analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies reveal that 1 features a 2D chiral kagome layer structure. Two copper ions are linked by four carboxylate ligands to form a Cu2 paddlewheel building block. The Cu2 paddlewheel building blocks as the 4-connected nodes, were furthermore connected by tbip ligands to form a 2D kagome topological network. Interestingly, the compound 1 possesses chirality, which is less reported in kagome lattice. In addition, the magnetic properties have been also studied.
