The comparison point setting method comprises the steps that the current coil output levels are obtained; when the first output level of comparison points is in a first state, whether the current coil output level meets a first preset relation or not is judged, and if the current coil output level meets the first preset relation, the first output level of the comparison points is updated according to the amplitude of the former group coil output level; and when the second output level of the comparison points is in a second state, whether the current coil output level meets a second preset relation or not is judged, and if the current coil output level meets the second preset relation, the second output level of the comparison points is updated according to the amplitude of the former group coil output level. By updating the points in real time, errors of the comparison points are reduced, and the adaptability of a rod position measurement device is effectively improved.
