Micro and nanotechnology are said to be enabling technologies that will broadly impact science and technology. Chemistry and the life sciences for sure can benefit by adopting micro and nanotechnology. Already in the late seventies the first miniaturized chemical analyser was presented and interest has increased ever since. This article briefly introduces microsystems with applications in chemistry and the life sciences.
