Women in nemertean biology

This paper is a brief tribute to the lives of women who have worked in the field of nemertean biology and began their careers in the first part of the twentieth century. Although nothing specific has been written about these women as nemertean biologists, they have been important to the field with many lasting contributions. They are set apart from their male contemporaries because of gender barriers and the implied cultural roles they had to overcome to pursue science. Their dedication and perseverance in spite of these obstacles make their achievements even more remarkable.
