Magnetic ring for transformation of heavy ions charge states

1991
A magnetic ring designed for transforming heavy-ion charge states (up to Xe) with an energy of 1 MeV/n is described. This ring consists of four dipole magnets (M1, M2) with uniform field and edge focusing. To provide necessary dispersion, there are also two quadrupoles. The operating principle of this so-called booster ring is presented, and a splitter-magnet for ion extraction with the selected charge is also described. >
