LOS ANGELES REGIONALWATER BOARD'S CHIEF PROSECUTOR ISSUES A $118,710 PENALTY COMPLAINT TO MICHAEL KIM AND THE T & T FAMILY TRUST

2011
The Complaint is for failing to comply with the Los Angeles Water Board’s directive to submit technical documents that are required by the California Water Code. The required documentation will outline the planned assessment and follow-up remediation of gasoline releases from three former underground storage tanks. The releases have adversely impacted the soil, soil gas and now threaten the quality of the groundwater in the Exposition, Gage and Gardena Aquifers, beneath a site in the City of Lynwood within the Los Angeles Region. The Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board’s Underground Storage Tank (UST) Section has determined that Mr. Kim and the T & T Family Trust have not responded to the Los Angeles Water Board’s requests since 2001 and have not complied with Cleanup and Abatement Orders issued in 2008 and 2010. The Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board is a California state agency responsible for protecting human health in addition to the preservation and enhancement of quality in water resources.
