O Desvelar Simbólico da Identidade Nacional na Cerimônia de Abertura dos Jogos Olímpicos Rio 2016

Throughout the twentieth century, following the technological advances in communication and globalization, the Olympic Games have established themselves as one of the most viewed audiovisual shows on the planet, being broadcast to an estimated 5 billion viewers. Its opening ceremony is the top-viewed, serving as a tool for spreading both union of peoples messages and nationalist advertisement. This work aims to unveil symbols of the Brazilian national identity presented at the Opening Ceremony of the Rio Olympic Games in 2016. This study uses a qualitative approach, based on documentary, bibliographic research and a case study, under an analysis of the results guided by the "Analysis of Moving Images" method. The study presents symbologies of the historical-cultural elements present in the national identity of Brazil that were addressed in the studied event, noting that many of these are not explored by the tourist activity.
