Complex Effects of Cd and Simulated Acid Rain on the Physiological Characteristics of Entodon compressus(Hedw.)C. Muell

2010
[Objective] The aim was to provide reference for Entodon compressus(Hedw.)C.Muell.to act as a biomarker in environmental monitoring.[Method] Effects of Cd(0-50 mg/L) and simulated Acid Rain(pH=3.5,4.5,5.6) on the physiological characteristics of Entodon compressus(Hedw.)C.Muell.were studied with laboratory simulated experiment.[Results] As the intensity of acid rain enhanced and Pb treatment concentration increased, the maximum soluble protein in Entodon compressus(Hedw.)C.Muell.appeared under 20 mg/L of Cd and pH 3.5,which was 40.91%higher than that of the control. The activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD) and the peroxidase(POD) activities increased first and decreased, while the soluble sugar content and free proline content always increased as Cd concentration increased.Under the stress of acid rain at pH 3.5,Entodon compressus(Hedw.)C.Muell.suffered the greatest harms.[Conclusion] Entodon compressus(Hedw.)C.Muell.had strong tolerance to acid rain, more serious stresses to Entodon compressus(Hedw.)C.Muell.could be observed in the cases of complex pollution with acid rain and Cd than any single pollution.
