Studies on the physico-chemical status of two water bodies at Sagar city under anthropogenic Influences

2012
Rajghat reservoir and Lakha-banzara pond is one of the major water bodies in Sagar city (M.P.). Physic o-chemical statuses of two water bodies were studied in the ye ar 2007-10. Both the water bodies, reservoir (sourc e-Bebas River) and pond (still water) are affected by vario us anthropogenic activities. In the present study, physico-chemical characteristics of two water bodies have been compa red. Water samples have been analyzed of pond/reser voir sample collection places during 2 years for their 1 5 physico - chemical parameters viz. Water Tempera ture, Colour, Conductivity, Turbidity, Total solids, Tota l dissolved solids, pH, Alkalinity, Chlorides, Tota l hardness, Dissolved oxygen, Biological oxygen demand, Chemica l oxygen demand, Iron and Fluoride were analysed du ring different seasons. The correlation and multiple reg ression analysis applied to the datasets indicated their interrelationships, for evaluating water quality du ring the pre monsoon, monsoon, and post monsoon sea sons. On the basis of analysed parameters, the results indic ated the, satisfactory water quality of the Rajghat reservoir water and Lakha-banzara ponds were found to be polluted c ondition.
