A Powerful Bio-Inspired Fire Fly Algorithm Based MPPT Controller for PV Systems Under Partial Shading Conditions

This paper presents a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller based on the Bio Inspired Fire Fly Algorithm for Photovoltaic System (PVS) under partial shading conditions. The main interests of the proposed method are the simple computational implementation steps and her faster convergence speed. The proposal is compared with the Particle Swarm Optimisation (PSO) controller. To prove the robustness of the proposed method, tests are carried out under a fast change of irradiance and temperature, also, under four different patterns of partial shading (PS). The simulation results have revealed that the proposed controller can find the Global Maximum Power Point (GMPP) with high efficiency, high speed, and presents a good dynamic behaviour.
