Preparation of single-walled carbon nanotube : Organosilicon hybrids and their enhanced field emission properties

In an attempt to improve the field emission property of single-wallted carbon nanotubes (SWNTs), a new class of SWNT derivatives, SWNTs−organosilicon hybrid materials, is synthesized. They exhibit electron field emission at a turn-on voltage lower than that in pristine SWNTs. This improvement is supported by first principles calculations.
