Effect of haze on the performance of free space optical communication

2017
In this paper, the haze attenuation of laser affects the performance of free space optical communication (FSOC). The Haze is regarded as coated particles, which considers haze as the inner and droplet aerosol as the outer core. Based on the coated scattering theory of Christian Matzler, the scattering model of haze aerosols is established. According to the Meteorological Bureau, the fitting relationship between atmospheric visibility V and PM 2.5 Index is obtained and the relationship between spectral distribution of aerosol particles and PM2.5 Index is derived. When the laser propagates along arbitrary paths, the attenuation coefficient of the laser is calculated by using the mathematical method. According to the different positions of the transmitter and receiver, FSOC can be divided into three situations. Finally, the effect of haze on different situations are discussed.
