Technological and Economical Analysis of Replacement of the Gas-Fired Furnaces with Induction Heating

2010
The tube, in the hot rolling mill of welded tube, is heated prior to plastic deformation in the rapid-heating sectional furnaces fired with natural gas employing jet-impingement techniques, whereby the jets of hot combustion products from high velocity burners impinge directly on the heated tube. Otherwise, the thermal efficiency of these furnaces of about 15 % is very low, which significantly increases operational costs. Therefore, this paper gives the results of the technologicaland economical analysis of replecement of the gas fired furnaces by induction furnaces. The obtain results confirm the assumption that induction heating can improve the quality of products at the lower production costs.
