Experimental study on energy transfer between two superconducting magnets with voltage ripple reduction control
1999
A power supply for superconducting pulse magnets which consists of a small power converter, a superconducting magnet for energy storage and an inverter converter bridge (ICE) energy transfer circuit have been proposed and studied. In this paper, a new control method of ICB energy transfer circuit to reduce voltage ripples across a load superconducting magnet is proposed and discussed. A test power supply of the proposed type which was designed and made is shown. Results of fundamental tests on the energy transfer between two superconducting magnets are shown and discussed. It is confirmed that the voltage ripples across the magnets can be reduced with the proposed ripple reduction control.
