Single-hair grafting with double-edged sapphire scalpel technique for eyebrow reconstruction

Objective To explore clinical effect of single-hair grafting with double-edged sapphire scalpel technique for eyebrow reconstruction.Methods Under the local anesthesia,a scalp strip was harvested from the back of the head,closed to the hairline.And under magnification,the strip was divided into a series of single-hair grafts.After the recipient holes were made with the double-edged sapphire scalpel in the designed eyebrow area,the single-hair grafts were implanted into the holes.Results 81 patients with 149 eyebrow-losses were treated by this operation.Deferent groups of patients were satisfied with the results differently: The groupⅠ is about 61.7%,the groupⅡ is about 32.9%,the groupⅢ is about 5.4%,and the groupⅣ is about 0.The grafted hairs grow in the direction of normal eyebrow,with achieve 98.1% survival even in a scarring area.Conclusion Single-hair grafting with double-edged sapphire scalpel technique that might be an ideal method for eyebrow reconstruction.
