All-digital Sub-sampling Architecture for an Impulse Radio Ultra Wideb and Keceiver

This paper presents a complete set of IR-UWB receiver system solutions which can be implemented on chip,including the RF front-end circuit architecture with design principles and digital back-end algorithms.The way to optimize A/D conversion quantization error via adjusting RMS by VGA is proposed after that A/D converter input signal′s RMS is detected.The receiver architecture is all-digital,the RF signal is amplified by the RF front-end circuit,and then sub-sampled and quantized in A/D converter.The channel estimation is carried out firstly and then the symbol synchronization is realized using the results of channel estimation in the digital module.Simulation results show that the system BER is 2.8×10-4 with a 4 GSamples/s、3bits ADC when Eb/N0=21dB.
