Presaturation phase with no dipolar order in a quantum ferro-antiferromagnet

The authors use several experimental techniques on BaCdVO(PO${}_{4}$)${}_{2}$ and uncover a new spin state, a spin nematic phase, that exhibit magnetic properties with no magnetic dipolar order.
