Anaphylaxis to gadolinium radiocontrast: a case report and review of the literature.

2009
Abstract Gadolinium was first introduced in 1988 for use in magnetic resonance imaging. The safety of gadolinium chelates is well established with lower frequency of adverse reactions than non-ionic iodinated contrast media; however, serious adverse reactions can occur. We report a rare case of anaphylaxis after intravenous administration of gadopentetate dimeglumine (Magnevist), used for magnetic resonance imaging.
