AN INVESTIGATION OF REFLECTION OF ACOUSTIC PULSES FROM SHELLS AND OF SHALLOW WATER SOUND TRANSMISSION.

1970
Abstract : The acoustics program in the Department of Physics, Colorado State University has been active from May 1961 to the present time. During this period various research problems have been studied, resulting in twenty-two publications plus five theses. In addition, certain approaches to education in acoustics and in acoustics research have been utilized. Research results include the first observation and detailed examination of the Rayleigh-type circumferential waves on solid elastic cylinders, calculations to determine the properties of these waves, and a demonstration of the measurement of properties of the sea bottom by shallow acoustic refractions. Most of the details of these results appear in the various publications listed herein. (Author)
