A source and its associated vector detectors covering the 140–1000 GHz frequency domain with sweep span 9–20 GHz

2007
A tunable single-Schottky multiplier emits various harmonics, ranging from M=2 to M=10, of its 62-112 GHz fully sweepable local oscillator. After cancellation of undesired lower harmonics by means of high-pass filters, the heterodyne detection in a single-Schottky tunable harmonic mixer, similar to the multiplier, with a second 62-112 GHz sweeper as LO, gives a dynamic range about 130 dB at 250 GHz to 35 dB at 1000 GHz. The heterodyne detection in a two-Schottky harmonic mixer, with a 10.3-18.7 GHz local oscillator, gives a dynamic range from 125 dB at 220 GHz to 40 dB at 750 GHz. After mechanical tunings at a chosen frequency, automatic frequency sweeps are possible with spans starting from 9 to 20 GHz. These new millimeter-submillimeter heads open simply the upper frequency coverage of vector network analysis.
