SOLAR ENERGY: A NEED FOR A NEW MENTALITY

ABSTRACT In this paper we are presenting an active solar house under construction in a suburb of Athens. In the beginning we attempt a very brief balance of the first decade after the 1973 crisis in the area of solar applications. Then, we describe the problems in the planning phase, in the architectural design and in the active system that was used. Theoretical results are presented in this paper but “true” performance can only be determined at least a year after it has been inhabited.
