A Frequency-Domain Technique of Chipless RFID Identification Using Cauchy Method

2018
This paper presents a frequency-domain technique for chipless RFID identification systems. In this technique, the EM wave which is swept in the entire operating frequency is transmitted to strike a chipless RFID tag. The EM wave backscattered from the tag is received and then used to perform signal processing. The Cauchy method was employed to extract poles from the received EM wave in the frequency domain. Poles were used to identify the chipless RFID tag. The deconvolution technique is proposed as well in order to overcome the resolution degradation due to the antenna effects. The simulations were conducted to verify the proposed technique. The simulation results show that poles extracted from the backscattered EM wave in frequency domain by using Cauchy method can identify the chipless RFID tag. The results are also shown to verify that the resolution of chipless identification RFID systems is improved by using the deconvolution technique.
