Pathohistological observation on ducks infected with NDV of goose origin.

2009
To study the pathohistological changes and the process of pathologic evolution of infected by NDV of goose origin,120 twenty-day-old healthy nonimmune Jianhu ducklings were randomly divided into two groups 60 birds each.In the experiment group, each duckling was hypodermically injected with 0.5 mL virus fluids by specified-pathogens free(SPF)chicken embryos of NDV(WF00G strain)isolated from goose which were diluted by 1∶5;the ducklings of control group were only hypodermically injected with 0.5 mL sterilized physiological saline. These ducklings were housed by isolation and observed for 20 days.Four duckings in each group were selected at random on 4,8,12,16 and 20 day after injection with NDV.The pathological changes were observed after autopsy, meanwhile, some organs were fixed in Bouin solution to make histological section and observe the pathohistological changes. The results revealed:in experiment group, clinical symptom of ducks were mild, some symptom, such as severe depression, diarrhea, were observed in only a few ducks, and the pathohistology changes of ducks after anatomy included pericardial effusion, cardiac texture hardening, splenomegaly, hemorrhage in liver, lung and kidney;the histopathological changes were hemorrhage, cell degeneration and necrosis in lung, kidney, spleen and liver. However,no symptoms and pathohistological changes were found in control group.
