Immunotherapy in Recurrent Malignant Brain Tumors

1987
Malignant brain tumors have a bad prognosis (1). Most often we cannot remove them completely by surgery. Radiation is not fully effective. Therefore various types of chemotherapies and immunotherapies have been tried (2,3,4). Though the patients may become symptom free after first surgery, they soon come back with recurrence of their tumors. This study was conducted to see the therapeutic effects of immuno-agent interferon-γ (IFN-γ) alone and it was compared with the three other chemotherapies i.e. Intersleukin-2 (IL-2), IFN-β + IL-2, and IFN-β + ACNU + Radiation.
