Effects of Isospin mixing on statistical properties of 26Al and 30P

Odd-odd nuclides in the sd-shell have states of different isospin coexisting even near the ground state. Because isospin is not a perfect symmetry, this coexistence provides an opportunity to examine directly the effects of a broken symmetry on the statistical properties of a quantum system. We present results for the nuclides 26Al and 30P, for which the level schemes are relatively complete.
