New derivative of 5-pyrrolyl-6-halogeno-2-pyridylmethylsulfinyl benzoimidazole and its production

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new compound useful for prevention and/or treatment of stomach ulcer and duodenal ulcer, high in enzyme inhibition effect, gastric secretoion suppressive effect and acid-degree lowering effect and free from toxity. CONSTITUTION: This compound is expressed by formula I (X is S, SO, SO 2 ; Y is a halogen; R 1 and R 2 are each H, an alkyl; R 3 is H, a 1-8C alkyl, 1- piperidinyl, 4-morpholinyl, 4-methylpiperadin-1-yl, etc.; R 4 and R 5 are each H, a 1-5C alkyl, etc.) or its pharmaceutically permissible salt, for example, 2-[[(4- methoxy-3-methyl)-2-pyridinyl]methylthio]-5-(1H-pyrrol-1-yl)-6-fluoro-1H- benzoimidazole. The compound of formula I is obtained by carrying out the reaction of a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III (L is a halogen, an esterified hydroxyl or an acyloxy) in the presence of a base in an organic solvent.
