A first experiment in mass-rearing of coregonid larvae in tanks with a dry food

1988
Abstract Coregonid larvae originating from Lake Bourget (France) were successfully reared in tanks using solely a dry food with yeast at 10 and 14°C. Conditions of mass-rearing were tested with two high initial densities of larvae (100 and 200/l). The first stage of production (until size 18–19 mm and 35–45 mg) was carried out in experimental tanks (60 l) in 28 and 42 days at 14 and 10°C, respectively. The survival was high and significantly better (85–95%) at 14°C compared with 41–54% at 10°C. The second stage of production was performed in commercial tanks (300 l) until the 56th day. The final size was then 29–30 mm (195–250 mg) at 14°C and 21–22 mm (65–70 mg) at 10°C with very low (
