Rutgers and the Civil War

McCormick describes the conditions at Rutgers College during the Civil War from Rutgers president Theodore Frelinghuysen's patriotical call at the outset of the War to the undergraduates to drastically declining enrollments during the during the war.  At the same time, college life continued and by the end of the war was setting forth upon a wholly new course of development.
