Study of structural and electrical transport properties of CaRuO3 bulk and thin film

We have studied the structural and electrical transport properties of CaRuO3 perovskite. Structural investigation has been done using x-ray powder diffraction and Rietveld analysis. CaRuO3 crystallizes in orthorhombic crystal structure with Pbnm space group. Electrical resistivity data of CaRuO3 exhibits metallic behavior throughout the temperature range and it follows non-Fermi liquid (NFL) behavior at low temperature range. Epitaxial thin film of CaRuO3 has been prepared on SrTiO3 (100) substrate using the pulse laser deposition (PLO) technique. The electrical resistivity data for thin film of CaRuO3/SrTiO3 shows increase in resistivity with decreasing the temperature. Nature of charge conduction is found to follow thermally activated Mott’s variable range hopping.
