THE DESIGN OF APPROACH CHANNELS AND SHIP MANOEUVRING AREAS

This is the text of a presentation at the First Seminar of the Permanent Committee for Developing Countries (PCDC) of PIANC (Permanent International Association of Navigation Congresses), held in Agadir, Morocco, on 9-12 June 1987. It deals with the dimensioning of approach channels and maneuvering areas, outlining what project data are needed, the capabilities and limitations of various design techniques, and new developments such as probabilistic design methods.
