Pemberdayaan Anggota LLHPB ‘Aisyiyah DI Yogyakarta dalam pengolahan sampah organik rumah tangga

2019
Organic waste mingled in Final Disposal Sites can have a negative impact on the environment and health  because it generates toxic gases, invites disease-carrying insects and produces leachate that pollutes the waters. Communities as producers of waste need to be educated to separate organic waste and do independent processing starting from a small scale (household). This activity aims to provide insights to members of the LLHPB ‘Aisyiyah DIY in processing household organic waste, in theory and practice. The first step is explanation on processing organic waste. The second step is training to process organic waste using BSF composter and practice at each participant's home. The results of this activity are an increase in knowledge and skills of participants in managing household organic waste and producing more useful products such as liquid fertilizer and animal feed. Through this workshop, participants are expected to invite others to process organic waste in their homes so that the volume of organic waste entering the landfill can be reduced. Hence, the negative impacts described above can be prevented.
