Data input method and device in portable terminal having touchscreen

PURPOSE: A data input method of a portable terminal with a touch screen and a device thereof are provided to utilize a keypad displayed in the space without changing the input mode of a separation keypad, thereby inputting data which is not provided by the separation keypad. CONSTITUTION: A touch screen generates a touch event in response to a touch gesture. A control unit(170) senses the touch gesture from the touch event. The control unit determines whether or not the touch gesture displays a separation keypad which is separated in two keypads. A display unit(130) displays a functional execution screen on the space where the separation keypad does not exist. The separation keypad is composed of a left side keypad and a right side keypad.
