Predictors of job pursuit intention across career stages: A mixed method study

Human resource is accepted as an important resource for the organizations. With increasing pressure to sustain competitive advantage, organizations are striving to improve their applicant pool. In this regard studies have explored the predictors of job pursuit intention. Studies conducted in this domain are mostly based on campus students where applicants are at the early stage of their career. However, there is increasing evidence of shortage of applicants at higher levels, where applicqnts are usually at differrent stages of their careers. The present study investigates whether the predictors of job pursuit intention the same or different across career stages? Based on a mixed method study of professionals in IT/ITeS industry, the present study asserts that the importance of the predictors of job pursuit intention is different for applicants at different career stages. Implications of the study for the organization as well as to theory are discussed.
