An Investigation on Two Stage VSI and ZSI for PV based Single Phase Application

A comparative study of two stage boost converter fed VSI and a single stage ZSI for solar photovoltaic (PV) based single phase application is presented in this paper. With the inclusion of an impedance network between VSI and the DC source, a single stage conversion from DC to AC is achieved. This paper describes the constructional and operational features of boost fed VSI and ZSI. The boost factor of the ZSI is controlled by injection of shoot through period using simple boost control technique. To demonstrate the application to PV, the modelling is done using MATLAB/Simulink and the effects of practical operational circumstances are represented.
