Developing Students’ Critical Thinking under the Direction of General Education ——A Case of Teaching English through Newspapers and Journals

Adopting the construct model of critical thinking skills as the theoretical framework,the paper aims at developing students’ critical thinking abilities in English teaching through newspapers and journals under the guideline of general education.To this end,the author proposes four teaching methods such as carrying out diversified reading tasks,topic-centered classroom discussions,authentically interactive practices and autonomous reading evaluations.The application of those teaching methods is supposed to provide some constructive suggestions to the integration of language skill training and critical thinking training.
