Rural telematics: The Information Society and rural development

Is there a specifically rural dimension to the Information Society? Is there a category of the broader socio-technological phenomenon that might be labelled ‘rural telematics? How might academic study contribute to an understanding of what is happening? These are the sorts of questions that we set out to answer in this chapter.
