Investigations werecarried outon theeffects ofvarious combinations ofsucrose andkinetin concentrations ongrowth andchlorophyll production inagreenandanongreen cloneof pithcallus ofNicotiana tabacumL.Itwasfoundthat2 milligrams perliter orhigher amountsofkinetin induced greeninginthenongreen tissue. Theobservations suggested that growthofthecallus andsynthesis ofchlorophyll andsoluble protein arecontrolled byrelative concentrations ofsucrose and kinetin inthemedium.Kinetin wasfoundtobeinhibitory for chlorophyll synthesis inthegreencallus.
