Analysis of tumor incidence and mortality in Shihezi,2011

OBJECTIVE The trend of morbidity and mortality of malignant tumor is rising with the development of economic and change of people’s living behavior patterns.This study is to evaluate epidemiological characteristics of pathogenesis and death caused by tumor in Shihezi city,so as to provide the evidence for prevention and control tumor in Shihezi city.METHODS The registered cancer data of incidence and mortality in 2011 from the Shihezi Cancer Registry was collected.The indexes,including the crude incidence and mortality,age-specific incidence and mortality rates,age-standarded incidence rates by Chinese population and world population were calculated respectively.RESULTS A number of1 151 new diagnosed cases and 516 death cases of tumor were reported.The crude incidence of tumor in Shihezi city was199.77/105 in 2011(225.37/105 in male,173.88/105 in female),and the age-standardized incidence rates by Chinese population and world population were 88.00/105 and 117.21/105 respectively.In addition,the mortality of tumor was89.56/105(106.30/105 in male,72.62/105 in female)in Shihezi city in 2011.The age-standardized mortality rates by Chinese population and world population were 44.52/105 and 57.25/105.The incidence and mortality of tumor of male were higher than that of female.The incidence and mortality of tumor increased with age.The most common cancers were breast cancer,gastric cancer,lung cancer,liver cancer.The lung cancer,breast cancer,colorectal cancer were the most common cause of death.CONCLUSIONS The incidence of tumor in Shihezi is higher.The incidence and mortality of male are higher than these of female.Some comprehensive measures should be taken to prevent and control tumor in Shihezi.
