Preparation of Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O Superconducting Tape by Laser Zone Melting Method

1991
Superconducting tapes of 50μm and 90μm in thickness on the MgO substrate were prepared by the laser zone melting method. Those tapes of 50um in thickness were grown at the different growth rate and temperature gradient at the growth interface. The superconductors grown at 5mm/h and 10mm/h consist of the single 80K-phase, and have well aligned grains parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tape. The critical current was measured by the direct current measurement as high as 0.5A (740A/cm2, 77K,OT) for the tape grown at 5mm/h and followed by heat treatment. The tape about 90um in thickness grown at l0mm/h also had the highly oriented structure.
