The invention discloses application of a chestnut involucre extract in improving health and growth performance of livestock and poultry. According to the invention, the content of plant polyphenols of the chestnut involucre extract obtained by adopting different extraction methods can reach more than 60%. The chestnut involucre extract can promote cell and tissue proliferation of animals and improve antioxidation performance of the animals; the chestnut involucre extract can be also added into basal diets as a feed additive, which can improve production performance of the animals, enhance immunity of the animals and reduce mortality of the animals.
