Pulmonary embolism is a rare complication of cardioversion of atrial fibrillation. The lethal thromboembolism was associated with pharmacological conversion to sinus rhythm in the patient with atrial fibrillation, lasting less than 48 hours. The difficulties of diagnosis and prevention of pulmonary embolism are discussed in the article.
