2020
In the main text, the historical origins of the five elements are divided into prehistoric times and the three generations of Xia(夏)⋅Yin(殷)⋅Zhou(周), and then the primitive meaning of the five elements is summarized based on various preceding studies. First, first, in relation to the theory of origins during the prehistoric period, the distinction between east and west directions and the initial form of the Four Gods can be identified through prehistoric relicss, and this can be linked to the initial form of the five elements theory. Second, in relation to the theory of the three age origins of Xia(夏)⋅Yin(殷)⋅Zhou(周), when we summarize the five elements-related data shown in the book of documents(尙書), the five elements appear to be explicitly arranged and utilized in the transition of Yin(殷)⋅Zhou(周), meaning that people's daily life It refers to the five substances essential to the business, and further refers to the departments and officials in charge of them. Third, considering the primitive meaning of the five elements, considering the history and living conditions of the late generations, the sky was intuitively prioritized in the distinction between the sky and the earth, and the sun had to take precedence in the distinction between the sun and the moon. In addition, as the concept of the five parties is clearly visible along with the change of the seasons, it can be inferred as the prototype of the five elements theory, but it is possible to see the notion that discriminates against all aspects by referring to themselves as “Central Shang”(中商). In short, the five elements theory stems from the perception of time and space based on the agricultural culture that presupposes the God(上帝) of the ancient period. In the Western Zhou Dynasty, as the scope of the five elements directed and applied expanded, the meaning of the five elements was the department that manages them, and the meaning was deepened into the relationship between complementary and reciprocal relationship. It seems to have been established as the standard for the creation and classification of all things in the universe.
