Psychometric properties of a motivation and strategies for learning scale This study aimed to construct a scale of motivation and strategies for learning and investigate its psychometric properties. 731 students attended the 1st to 8th grades of elementary school of public and private schools in the state of Parana. A range of strategies for learning and motivation composed of 29 items was applied collectively. The results demonstrate the stages of construction of the instrument and present the exploratory factor analysis which indicated the existence of a structure of four factors. The Cronbach's alpha of the scale and the four subscales indicated that the instrument has acceptable levels of internal consistency but has the need for deepening, construction of new items or redesign existing ones.
