Violencia de pareja en poblaciones indígenas en México: una revisión de la literatura

Research in the area of intimate partner violence (IPV) in Mexico has typically focused its efforts in investigating the magnitude, risk factors, repercussions, and prevention strategies centered in mixed race Mexicans living in urban areas. This literature review has aimed at investigating the aforementioned aspects within indigenous populations in Mexico. The systematic search yielded a total of 11 empirical published studies. Results indicate prevalence estimates vary widely due to the heterogeneity of indigenous groups, and diverse methodologies used, among other factors. Most studies have been conducted in central and southern Mexico. Recommendations for future studies IPV prevention strategies within indigenous groups in Mexico are discussed.
