A PSO-GA Hybrid Searching Method for Non-Circular Slip Surfaces in Sope Stability Analysis

In slope stability analysis,failure surfaces tend to be non-circular for non-homogeneous soils.By using a new description of non-circular slip surface proposed by author,a hybrid evolutionary optimization algorithm based on particle swarm and genetic algorithms is presented to search the critical non-circular failure surface in slope stability analysis with a perfect performance and more efficiency.Compared with other mature slope stability system such as GeoSLOPE,the results of examples demonstrate the effect of the representation method of non-circular slip surfaces and the algorithms.The Morgenstern-Price method is applied to compute the factor of safety in this paper,which is regarded as a very good method to solve the slope stability problems,especially for non-circular slip surface problems.Some revises to the exception caused by this method is also proposed according to the software realization of the method,too.
