Method and device for updating input method word stock

The invention provides a method and device for updating an input method word stock. The method comprises the following steps: recording word stock regulating information based on the last word stock version on a server into the current word stock version at the server, wherein the word stock regulating information comprises word updating states aiming at the word frequency changing state of the words in the last word stock version and based on the word frequency changing state; obtaining the number of the word stock of the client; and gathering all the word stock regulating information on theversion of the word stock of the client and the version of the word stock of the current server, and sending the gathered word updating information and the version number of the word stock of the current server to the client. The client can add the words needing to be added into the input method word stock on the client according to the word updating information and delete the words needing to bedeleted from the input method word stock on the client, and update the version number of the current word stock version on the client.
